ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Adina Cicort, born 1978 in Bucharest, Romania, is a painter, based in Dallas, TX. Cicort’s influences lie in the realms of fauvism and abstract expressionism. Self taught she started drawing and painting as a child. Growing up in a family of artisans, she was introduced to the practice of arts and crafts from an early age. Adina remembers the time spent with her family at her grand parents homes in the countryside, learning how to make decorative objects from Earth-based ingredients. Situated on ancient grounds with breathtaking natural beauty, she grew up surrounded by myths and legends, spiritual teachings, natural healing techniques and folk art. Adina’s childhood memories, the colors and textures, are today expressed in her paintings. Cicort’s work conveys the essence of a golden era, in which she relates to her past, and taps into the future. Light, emotions, ancient symbols, all translate into color and dimension. Her connection with the eternal source of light, stands beyond time and the material. Adina creates an emotional neuro-transmitted form of communication with the Divine.

Cicort’s abstract works are created with mixed media techniques and mainly acrylic and oil based. Multicultural, speaker of six different languages, Cicort is a passionate world explorer and seeker of life’s fundamental truths.

Her work was represented at Artexpo New York, Art Monaco on French Riviera, Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC, Spectrum Miami, and at Saatchi Art, Gallery 3, Ten 20 Gallery, Luminarte Gallery, Kettle Gallery and other. As well as 2016′ Art in America Guide to Museums, Galleries and Artists. Additionally, her work was selected for the 2017 Florence, Italy Biennale.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Since early beginnings, my art is a reflection on the nature of the universe and the origin of soul. My works are visual metaphors about self-identity, freedom of expression, memories from a distant past or a glimpse into the future. Each piece is an invitation to travel beyond structure, time and space.

Often bringing to light sacred geometry and ancient subjects and symbols, am creating a space for thought and emotion.
